Course Continuity
Students are encouraged to stay home if you are ill or experience flu-like symptoms. If you miss a class for any reason, it is still your responsibility to make up the work missed.
I offer the following to students who miss class due to illness:
- I will make PowerPoint slides or other class materials routinely available on the course site to everyone in the class.
- When you are better, please make an appointment to meet with me and I will review/answer questions about what you missed.

Students in this class will master the legal research skills introduced in the Legal Practice Skills course and explore new research methods used in legal practice. A substantial portion of class sessions will be spent working with simulated research scenarios and tasks encountered by legal practitioners. Students will complete multiple graded assignments throughout the course and receive feedback on each.
The course will emphasize problem analysis, efficient research strategies, application of artificial intelligence tools for research, and effective use of a wide range of research databases used in legal practice. Topics covered include administrative materials, legislative history, and tools beyond Westlaw and Lexis. The course is strongly recommended for anyone wanting to strengthen their skills with legal research to prepare for practice.
