Modern Venture Economy examines the legal and regulatory landscape shaping today's startup ecosystem, spanning AI law firms, defense contracting, prediction markets, alternative energy, and international fintech. Rather than relying on textbook hypotheticals, each session is built around current deals, scandals, and regulatory battles, including real DOJ indictments, landmark fraud cases, and emerging liability questions around agentic AI. Students will explore how legal strategy functions as a core driver of venture-backed businesses, from gig economy marketplaces to securities law and VC metrics. Guest speakers, including founders, general counsels, and investors, will join throughout the semester to bring the material to life.
