This advanced course will provide students with the opportunity to further refine the writing, editing, and oral communication skills taught in their first year Legal Writing/Legal Practice Skills course. Students will complete and receive feedback on several shorter writing assignments of varying degrees of formality. These assignments will mimic the various types of writing a new litigation attorney would expect to encounter on a daily basis and will include intraoffice communication, client communication, communication with other attorneys and writing to the court. This course will also expose students to a series of verbal skills exercises designed to improve their communication skills in a less formal setting. In addition to receiving written feedback, students will receive feedback at individual conferences. Students will complete the writing and editing assignments both in and out of class. Because of the participatory nature of the course, class attendance is essential.
