The purpose of this course is to provide a general overview of U.S. laws and regulations governing activities of banks, investment funds, securities broker-dealers, insurance firms, and other financial institutions. The course will examine the shared and implicit objectives of financial regulation and evaluate the methods used to achieve them.
There are no formal prerequisites for this course. It is generally recommended that, prior to taking this class, students take a basic course in business organizations and/or securities regulation.
Regular class attendance is critical.
