This course will provide an overview of the highly-regulated and rapidly-evolving gaming industry from a practitioner’s perspective. Topics will include the historical background which gave rise to the modern regulatory environment, the legislative objectives and public policies underlying the introduction of authorized gaming; considerations in analyzing whether an activity constitutes gambling; the current regulatory structures in Pennsylvania and New Jersey; Federal regulation of gambling; concepts and processes relating to licensing of gaming industry participants; and, more recent developments in the evolution of gaming—Internet gaming, sports wagering and fantasy sports.
