Originalism and Its Discontents – Directed Reading Seminar Spring 2024
Originalism is a leading method for constitutional and legal interpretation. Although heavily criticized in academia, a majority of Supreme Court justices and many lower court judges self-identify as originalists. This reading group offers students interested in the topic to learn about originalism—its evolution, its strengths and weaknesses, and its future.
The group will meet on Tuesdays from 10:30 to 11:50 am to discuss the assigned readings. Students will receive two ungraded (CR/F) credits so long as they participate weekly.
