This course, which is designed for non-law students, will examine the fundamentals of business law. The course will touch on the core legal issues faced by any business, including contracts, employment law, business organizations and governance, mergers and acquisitions, business torts, intellectual property, administrative/regulatory compliance, and litigation/risk management. At the course’s conclusion, students should be in a position not only to recognize potential legal issues but also better able to evaluate any offered advice.
Business and Corporate Law Learning outcomes: Demonstrate a core understanding of business and corporate law; Perform legal analysis in the context of business and corporate law; Communicate effectively on topics related to business and corporate law; Demonstrate an understanding of the interconnection between the world of business and finance and that of business and corporate law, and how they affect other areas of law and society.
