The seminar will focus on original papers and reports on some of the most salient tax policy issues of the day. The professors and students will engage in an extensive and, we hope, lively discussion of each paper. Students will write reaction papers for roughly half of the papers. And, with respect to every paper, all students will read in advance, prepare discussion questions, and participate in class discussion.

The seminar is intended to help students hone their writing, presentation and participation skills. It is also designed to give students insight into the policy side of tax practice, exposing them to some of the major tax policy issues of the day, which are likely to drive new proposals, laws and regulations over the next several years.

The course may be used to fulfill the law school’s writing requirement.
